Food bank resources and donation information

Posted on June 14, 2018 at 3:54 PM by Julie Sutor

Below is information about Food Bank Resources for those affected by the #BuffaloFire.

The Family & Intercultural Resource Center (FIRC) is offering two mobile food pantries to help replenish perishable food for those affected by the Buffalo Fire. With power having been out for the last 48 hours, it is unsafe to eat perishable food within your home, even if your fridge feels cold. Please throw out your perishables in the Dumpsters provided by Summit County Public Health and replace them with the help of FIRC’s pantry.

FIRC vans will be located near the Public Health Dumpsters on Thursday, June 14, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Tomorrow, Friday, June 15, food will be available at the FIRC Silverthorne Office, located at 241 W 4th Street from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

If you can’t make it tonight or tomorrow, please visit FIRC’s office in Silverthorne to pick up perishable foods on your schedule. The office is open Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Donations

If you’d like to help those impacted by the Buffalo Fire, FIRC is accepting cash donations to purchase additional perishable foods. FIRC is also accepting donations of perishable foods, including milk, eggs, chicken and produce. Food donations should be dropped off at FIRC’s Silverthorne office Friday, June 15, between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., or Monday through Thursday next week between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. If you’d like to donate your time, please sign up to volunteer at the FIRC food pantry here or by calling 970-262-3888.
