Summit Cove Loop Project Resumes July 23

Posted on July 20, 2018 at 2:09 PM by Julie Sutor

Another round of bicycle/pedestrian improvements is in store for Summit Cove this summer, as Summit County undertakes Phase 4 of the Summit Cove Loop Project.

This year's work will take place along Cove Boulevard, from Whispering Pines Ranch Road to the gravel emergency access at Sunlight Drive. Planned improvements include striped 10-foot-wide drive lanes, bicycle/pedestrian lanes on both sides of the road, and a widening of the Soda Creek causeway near the intersection of Royal Coachman Boulevard.

"We're really looking forward to the completion of this phase of the project," Summit County Road & Bridge Director Robert Jacobs said. "We expect the improvements here to have tangible traffic-calming effects, and we're going to be able to provide pedestrians and cyclists with some extra breathing room at the causeway over Soda Creek."

Phase 4 construction is scheduled to take place from late July through September. The causeway work will require extended full closures of Cove Boulevard at that location, likely beginning in mid-August. Detours will be in place during all full closures. We'll provide details on the work schedule and road closures in future blog posts and at the project site.

In its entirety, the Summit Cove Loop Project includes striped bicycle/pedestrian lanes in both directions along Summit Drive and Cove Boulevard, making for safer and more enjoyable walking and riding experiences along the most heavily traveled roads in Summit Cove. The project also includes road resurfacing, crosswalks, drainage improvements and maintenance of side roads adjacent to the loop.
