The Criminal Investigations Section investigates felony and non-traffic misdemeanor cases occurring in the unincorporated areas of Summit County. The section also provides technical and manpower assistance for major crimes occurring in local police departments’ jurisdictions when requested. The Summit County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Section staff consists of one Sergeant and two Detectives.
Responsibilities
The Criminal Investigations Section is responsible for investigating all crimes against persons and property crimes including:

- Burglaries
- Domestic violence
- Drugs
