The Summit County Sheriff’s Office, in partnership with the Summit School District, operates a School Resource Officer (SRO) program, serving Summit High School, Snowy Peaks, Summit Middle School, Dillon Valley Elementary and Summit Cove Elementary.
Summit County Sheriff’s Office SRO Technicians are POST certified law enforcement officers trained by the National Association of School Resource Officers, and are responsible for safety and crime prevention in Summit County schools, in unincorporated Summit County. SRO Technicians foster positive relationships and collaborate with school officials on all matters relating to school safety and security, in order to support a safe learning environment for Summit County students.
Beyond providing daily safety for Summit County schools, SRO Technicians have a diverse role and wear many hats, working to improve safety and prevent violence in schools, while also serving as a resource, mentor, educator, and role model. SRO Technicians work closely with school counselors connecting students and parents with resources, and act as a liaison between the school district and law enforcement.
