Community Service Officer

Summit County Sheriff’s Office Community Service Officers (CSO) work within the Patrol Section of the Operations Division and are non-POST code enforcement officers. CSO’s serve the Summit County community to promote safety, support deputies in community policing activities, and foster positive relationships with residents and visitors alike.

Community Service Officers perform a variety duties to help enforce various regulations and laws in situations where a POST certified Deputy is not required. These duties may include:

  • Parking enforcement 
  • Code enforcement
  • Fire ban enforcement and education 
  • Short term rental licensing enforcement
  • Investigating of private property accidents
  • Lost and found reports
  • Various other roles in support of the Patrol Section 

CSO’s also participate in education events to assist the public in understanding Summit County Ordinances, fire restrictions, parking regulations and other miscellaneous regulations and laws.
