Operations Division Support Services Commander
Position Requirements: Summit County Sheriff’s Office is seeking a well-qualified Support Services Commander. This position is a member of the leadership command level in the Sheriff’s Office organization. The position manages all functions within Support Services to include, Training, Internal Affairs, Evidence, Records, Policy Management and the rules and laws concerning Colorado Senate Bill 20-217. The position performs a wide range of supervisory and professional management duties and must have the ability to lead, manage, administer budget, and be responsible for all support service decision making for the Summit County Sheriff’s Office. The position reports directly to the Undersheriff and/or Sheriff. The position works with unusually difficult and technical law enforcement work while exercising command and delegated direction for all activities of Support Services.
The work of the position involves extensive responsibility for utilizing independent judgement as well as individual initiative in the implementation of orders, policies, procedures, rules and regulations. The candidate must be skilled in applying these concepts in decision making concerning complex law enforcement and technical problems and in leading subordinate members in routine and emergency situations. The position is responsible for development of an annual budget including capital items, conducting project management, researching budget proposals, and managing expenditures. The position develops the strategic vision and planning for Support Services; develops policy, reviews and approves policy updates; conducts risk management analysis; ensures staff are compliant with all required constitutional, statutory, ordinance, policy, and rule requirements. The candidate will demonstrate a proven ability to quickly absorb and understand unfamiliar subject matter.
The candidate will have comprehensive law enforcement experience and demonstrate successful management in similar work environments, including projects and tasks and completing within established timelines.
The ideal candidate will be a team-oriented professional, with excellent organizational, time management and communication skills. The candidate should have an exceptional customer service demeanor; have strong written and verbal communications experience, be professional in directing and interacting with members of the public from differing social-economic backgrounds and cultures, sworn law enforcement from multiple agencies, attorneys, judges, community partners, and administrative staff during routine interactions and in stressful situations. The candidate should have a demonstrated history of leadership, strong job knowledge, above average attention to detail, a history of self-motivation, and an aptitude for teaching and mentoring others.
Required Qualifications: Candidate must be Colorado POST certified and in good standing under current POST guidelines and not currently involved in any disciplinary action. The candidate must have at least four years’ experience as a law enforcement supervisor with above average reviews, preferably with experience working in a law enforcement operations environment. Preferred qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Law, Public Administration or a related field. Must be able to pass a background check, psychological test, polygraph, physical, and obtain a security clearance for work with Criminal Justice Records.
Hiring Range: M80, Exempt. $3,510.73 to $5,617.17 bi-weekly, DOQ. Summit County offers an excellent benefit program

The Summit County Detention Facility is a dynamic and energetic 94-bed facility with an average daily population of 57 inmates. We are looking for professional, outgoing people who have a great sense of humor, excellent communication, customer service skills, and attention to detail.

Position Requirements: Summit County Sheriff’s Office Detention Facility is seeking a well-qualified Mental Health Clinician. This position will perform a variety of clinical and administrative duties as part of the Jail Based Behavioral Health Services (JBBS) Program. The JBBS team consists of a Mental Health Clinician and Case Manager. The JBBS team is responsible for mental health and substance use disorder treatment of the incarcerated individuals in the Summit County Detention Facility. The JBBS Mental Health Clinician will be responsible for individual and group therapeutic treatment.
JBBS Mental Health Clinician
The ideal candidate will be a team-oriented professional who can effectively respond to, manage, and coordinate professional mental health services and system support services. The role of the clinician will be to insure continuity of care including, an immediate and professional evaluation, collaboration with proper agencies, referral to appropriate type and level of service and advocacy for treatment deemed necessary. The candidate should have excellent customer service demeanor in a high volume environment, have strong written and verbal communications experience and be professional in directing and interacting with the public during times of emotional and stressful situations.
Required Qualifications: A Master’s or Doctorate degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling or closely related degree from an accredited program. Licensed or license eligible in the State of Colorado (LPC, LCSW, PSY), candidates for licensure (LPCC, LCSWC) may also be considered. Ability to speak and write in English proficiently and bi-lingual (English/Spanish) preferred. Experience working with crisis response and intervention, suicide assessment. Must be able to pass a background check, psychological examination, polygraph examination and obtain a security clearance for work with Criminal Justice Records. Must have or obtain a Colorado Driver’s License within 60 days of appointment and maintain throughout employment and know how to safely operate a motor vehicle.
Hiring Range: $32.16 entry hourly rate (P90) (with potential for up to a 10% increase above base), DOQ, Summit County offers an excellent benefit program.

Detentions Deputies are sworn law-enforcement positions, responsible for the safety, security and orderly running of the detention facility. These duties include, but are not limited to: the booking and release of arrestees, inmates and detainees; Courts; transports across the state of Colorado and extraditions throughout the United States, assisting with Court Security duties, including security at the Justice Center and the DA's Office / Probation Office building; fingerprinting; taking mugshots; enforcing facility rules and regulations; conducting criminal investigations; making arrests; writing reports; professionally using the law enforcement radio system; assisting the Civil Division when needed; and, assisting the Operations Division as appropriate.
Successful applicants will be trained in arrest control/ defensive tactics, firearms, Taser and pepper spray, in addition to over 80 hours of in-service training offered annually. Detention Deputies bid by seniority for twelve hour shifts; Sunday through Tuesday or Thursday through Saturday and work every other Wednesday. This normally works out to working four days with three days off and then working three days with four days off, with some exceptions for training weeks.

Patrol CadetPosition Description: Summit County Sheriff’s Office is seeking a qualified Patrol Cadet. The applicant selected for the position attends a Colorado Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Law Enforcement Academy to obtain POST Certification. Upon POST Certification, the Patrol Cadet promotes to Patrol Deputy. The Patrol Cadet’s primary job location is at a POST Academy located in either the Denver Metropolitan Area or Glenwood Springs.
Minimum Qualifications: MUST be Colorado POST certifiable. Other minimum requirements: 21 years of age, high school diploma or equivalent, valid CO Driver's License. Must pass written, oral, physical, psychological, polygraph and background tests.
Hiring Range: $24.01 per hour plus excellent benefits package. Pay rate increases to $28.53 per hour upon POST Certification and promotion to Patrol Deputy. The position is budgeted as full-time, 40 hours per week.
