Patrol Division Deputies provide quality law enforcement services 24/7 to the residents of unincorporated Summit County. While the year-round population of Summit County is approximately 28,000, that number can swell to over 150,000 during peak tourist seasons.
Members of the Patrol Division strive to control crime and improve quality of life issues in our community. In 2010, our Patrol Deputies responded to over 14,000 citizen-initiated calls for service in unincorporated Summit County.
Community Oriented Policing (C.O.P.)
The Patrol Division enforces Colorado Revised Statutes, (C.R.S.) and County Ordinances enacted by the Board of County Commissioners. All employees of the SCSO are committed to the process of Community Oriented Policing (C.O.P.). C.O.P. provides community based law enforcement services through the application of proactive and preventive enforcement strategies derived from partnerships within the community. It promotes the building of trusting relationships between the law enforcement officers and the community they serve.
