County Road & Bridge Standards
The Summit County Engineering Department, in cooperation with the
Road and Bridge Department, is responsible for the establishment and administration of the County’s Road and Bridge Standards, which are found in
Chapter 5 of the
Code.

Our standards are in general conformance with the following nationally and locally accepted agencies and laws:
These regulations and standards are modified and amended in our Code as deemed appropriate by the County Engineer and the Road and Bridge director to preserve the integrity of the County’s roads and maintain a standard of safety for the users of Summit County's road system, while recognizing the unique challenges associated with design, construction and maintenance in the sensitive yet harsh high alpine environment.
