[ARCHIVED] Peak 2 Fire - All Pre-Evacuation Lifted- 7/9/17

The original item was published from July 9, 2017 3:20 PM to July 24, 2017 1:47 PM

The Summit County Sheriff's Office is removing the pre-evacuation status of the Peak 2 fire. The areas no longer in pre-evacuation status are Peak 7 and west of Colorado Highway-9 from the south boundary of Cucumber Gulch and Valley Brook to the north boundary of the Iron Springs construction site. The Sheriff's Office along with the Rocky Mountain Incident Management Team and Red, White and Blue Fire Protection District have been assessing the threat levels from the fire which remain low. With this change there are no areas in pre-evacuation status.

Peal 7 residents should not discard the credentials issued to them at the check-point in the event that this neighborhood needs to be re-evacuated. If colored flagging tape used by firefighters and law enforcement is at your home you should immediately remove it from your property as it is no longer valid or needed.

Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and stay aware of the fire status through fire information sources and the media. Please call the public information line at (970) 668-9730 with questions.

Fire behavior and activity can be erratic and is always dangerous. Be aware of your surroundings.
