Current Situation: Firefighters brought the containment of the Peak 2 Fire to 85% today. There was no significant growth on the fire today.

Today, the Summit County Sheriff lifted the remaining pre-evacuation orders for the Peak 2 Fire, which included the Peak 7 Neighborhood, Farmers Korner, Gold Hill and Silver Shekel neighborhoods.

Firefighters continued to construct containment line and suppress spot fires found from Wednesday night along the west flank of the fire.

On the south flank of the fire, crews are working to prepare a contingency line that would help protect the Peak 7 neighborhood, Breckenridge Ski Area, and the town of Breckenridge from future fire activity. Crews are continuing to scout opportunities for additional contingency lines.
Resources are being released to travel home or to other fires in the West.

Evacuations and Closures:  There are currently no pre-evacuation or evacuation orders.
Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and stay aware of the fire status through fire information sources and the media. Please call the public information line at (970) 668-9730 with questions.

Peaks Trail, Gold Hill, Wheeler, Miners Creek trails will remain closed. Parts of the Colorado Trail are closed where overlap occurs with trail closures in the area. Miners Creek Road is closed. 

Public Safety: Stage 1 fire restrictions are in effect for the entire White River National Forest as well as Bureau of Land Management-administered lands and unincorporated private lands in Eagle, Garfield, Mesa, Rio Blanco, Pitkin, and Summit counties.
