Short Term Rentals Blog

Summit County is implementing regulations for short term rentals (STRs), which are applicable to properties in the unincorporated areas of Summit County. The STR regulations address:
  • - Permitting and fees
  • - Regulation of key neighborhood impacts (e.g., parking and trash)
  • - Regulation of life safety issues (e.g., smoke and carbon monoxide detectors)
  • - An effective compliance-monitoring and enforcement system.
This blog will keep you abreast of relevant processes, policies, information and other matters related to our STR program.

STR Process Update: July 31 work session discussion

Posted on July 27, 2018 at 2:20 PM by Julie Sutor

There will be a discussion on short-term rentals at the Board of County Commissioners' work session at 1 p.m., Tuesday, July 31, at the Summit County Courthouse (208 E. Lincoln Ave, Breckenridge). County staff will provide the Board with a status update on the STR project, discuss the proposed work plan for August through October, and obtain Board input on key STR policies, including recommended permitting requirements, parking standards, and trash and recycling protocols.

This will be a working meeting with County staff and the Board, which is open to the public, but it does not include a public hearing. Stay tuned for an update on the meeting outcomes, as well as next steps to gather additional community feedback as we begin to prepare draft regulations to present to the Countywide Planning Commission.
