Update at 9:02 AM on 5/31/19

As of 9:00 AM on Friday, 5/31, all evacuations have been lifted and the road to Montezuma is open. St. Anthony's Summit Medical Center has resumed normal operations. 

Due to the contamination, officials are advising people and animals to continue to avoid contact with water in the Dillon Reservoir, Peru Creek and Snake River. Water is still being tested by the Environmental Protection Agency and results will be released as soon as they are known. 

Keystone area visitors and residents are still advised to not drink the water if it comes from the Snake River Water District or if it is coming from a private well. Private well owners can contact Summit County Environmental Health at 970-668-4070 to have their water tested. Results could take up to three days and owners will be notified immediately. 

The Snake River Water District extends from Montezuma Road to Landfill and Soda Ridge Roads in Keystone, CO. The River Course at Keystone is also included in the Snake River Water District. This does not affect the Summit Cove neighborhood or Summit Cove Elementary (East Dillon Water District). 

Potable water is being distributed by the Red Cross from 7 AM to 8 PM Friday and Saturday in two locations: At the intersection of Highway 6 and Tennis Club Road in the Keystone Ski Resort Employee Center Parking Lot, and River Run Parking Lot (Keystone) in the northeast corner.     

The Red Cross and Breckenridge Recreation Center at 880 Airport Road are providing facilities for free showers. 

County officials are continuing to work with the county hazmat team, EPA and Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment to clean up the river.
