Call 911 for All Serious Medical Issues

Posted on May 11, 2020 at 8:28 AM by Sarah Wilkinson

There have been many changes to our daily routines and normal activities during these past few months as our community responds to the COVID-19 pandemic. We understand that everyone is adjusting while also trying to be cautious. There is one area where we want to encourage everyone to continue to respond normally, and that’s in the event of any life-threatening medical issues that require immediate attention – always call 911. Even though COVID-19 has changed many things, it has not changed this. Calling 911 is still the best and safest way to get medical assistance in severe cases.

If you are experiencing any life-threatening medical issues, for example an allergic reaction, symptoms of a heart attack or stroke, difficulty breathing or choking, or sudden, severe pain, call 911. It's important to get medical attention for all serious issues, not just those possibly related to COVID-19. Of course, if you are experiencing severe symptoms consistent with COVID-19, like trouble breathing, persistent pain or pressure in the chest, confusion, or bluish lips or face, it's important that you get medical attention immediately. Call 911 and tell the dispatcher your symptoms. Our first responders are highly trained professionals that are trained to respond to safely respond to all medical issues.
