Short Term Rentals Blog

Summit County is implementing regulations for short term rentals (STRs), which are applicable to properties in the unincorporated areas of Summit County. The STR regulations address:
  • - Permitting and fees
  • - Regulation of key neighborhood impacts (e.g., parking and trash)
  • - Regulation of life safety issues (e.g., smoke and carbon monoxide detectors)
  • - An effective compliance-monitoring and enforcement system.
This blog will keep you abreast of relevant processes, policies, information and other matters related to our STR program.

Conversion From Existing STR Permit to License

Posted on September 8, 2021 at 11:49 AM by Brandi Timm

All STR permits submitted prior to July 1, 2021 must be converted to a license before 9/30/2021.  To convert your permit, please visit the Host Compliance portal and click on 'Convert an existing short term rental permit to a license' and follow the steps.  Please note that if your permit has an expiration date of 9/30/2021 you will also need to submit a $75 fee to keep the license active for another year.  If your permit expires on 9/30/2022 then no fee is needed at the time of conversion.

If you have questions about your short term rental, please call 970-668-4186 or email STR@summitcountyco.gov

If you have questions about your sales tax license for your STR, please call 970-453-3439 or email Joe.DiCerbo@summitcountyco.gov

Thank you.
