Summit County is inviting parents and expecting parents to the next installment of County 101, "Challenges and Choices in Childcare," happening on May 10th at the Community & Senior Center. The free forum will focus on types of care and resources.
SUMMIT COUNTY - Summit County Commissioners are proud to host the next event in their County 101 series, which aims to engage the community in topics important to Summit County, the Western Slope, and Colorado. The May 10th event, “Choices and Challenges in Childcare,” brings together experts in Summit County childcare to provide a comprehensive look at options for families, tuition assistance programs, new childcare centers, navigating waitlists, and much more.
Challenges and Choices in Childcare will take place on May 10th, 2023, from 5:30 – 7 pm, at the Summit County Community & Senior Center in Frisco. Presentations will be given by local childcare providers, Early Childhood Options, Summit School District, and Summit County staff, and hosted by County Commissioner Elisabeth Lawrence. Members of these organizations will also be available after the presentations to answer questions, help with applications, and provide more information.
Discussion topics will include daycare centers, tuition assistance programs, Summit School District preschool options, alternative childcare options, and County initiatives. Additionally, the event will address concerns about daycare waitlists, registration processes, staff retention, and the impact of the childcare shortage on preschool and elementary school capacities. Dinner and snacks will be provided.
Free, guided activities for children will be available for those who need childcare. To ensure proper capacity, parents who plan to use this service are asked to register beforehand here: https://www.summitcountyco.gov/forms.aspx?fid=122
