Ribbon Cutting and Open House Planned for 4pm, August 29th, at Wildflower Nature School in Silverthorne.
SUMMIT COUNTY - Summit County's Boad of County Commissioners today announced the upcoming ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house for the Wildflower Nature School on Tuesday, August 29, 2023. The celebration begins at 4:00pm at 160 Ruby Ranch Rd in Silverthorne. The community is invited to join the open house, participate in guided tours, and enjoy light appetizers and beverages until 6:00pm.
With a commitment to address childcare needs, Summit County has invested nearly $9 Million in the development of the Wildflower Nature School, aiming to fulfill the growing demands and needs of families in the area. The school will be able to accommodate up to 70 students.
"Expanding childcare needs for parents and children in Summit County has been my top priority," said Elisabeth Lawrence, Summit County Commissioner.
Distinctively, the school offers a unique approach to early childhood education by focusing on an environmental and nature-based curriculum tailored for children ages six weeks to five years old. Rooted in outdoor engagement, the school emphasizes outdoor play with plants, animals, and ecological experiences, fostering a connection to nature and healthy living. Prospective parents can learn more about enrollment and sign up for the waitlist at wildflowersilverthorne.org.
"Watching the construction and creation of the Wildflower Nature School has been really exciting. This will be a big step in fulfilling a long-standing gap in childcare services in Summit County that also aligns with the values of our mountain community," said Lawrence.
