On the evening of Tuesday, March 28, 2017 the Summit County Sheriff’s Office received an anonymous tip from Safe2Tell Colorado regarding a possible threat of violence at the Summit Middle School.

SUMMIT COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE AND SUMMIT SCHOOL DISTRICT RESPOND TO Safe2Tell TIP


SUMMIT COUNTY, CO – On the evening of Tuesday, March 28, 2017 the Summit County Sheriff’s Office received an anonymous tip from Safe2Tell Colorado regarding a possible threat of violence at the Summit Middle School. Deputies immediately located and responded to the suspect’s residence, investigated the threat and recovered evidence. The Summit School District is cooperating with the Summit County Sheriff’s Office Detectives and School Resource Officer in this independent and complex investigation.


Sheriff Jaime FitzSimons stated, “At this time we have no reason to believe that there is a security risk to the students or the Summit Middle School itself stemming from this incident. This case remains a very fluid and active investigation. I encourage families to continue to talk with their children about safety and the importance about reporting any concerns promptly to parents, school officials, law enforcement or Safe2Tell Colorado, as in this case.”
