THREAT AT SUMMIT MIDDLE SCHOOL RESULTS IN JUVENILE ARREST

SUMMIT COUNTY, CO – On May 10, 2019, at approximately 9:40 a.m. the Summit County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a threatening note posted on a bathroom wall at Summit Middle School in Frisco.

Sheriff’s Deputies and Summit School District Officials were able to quickly locate the student involved, a 13-year-old male, and determine there was no threat to others. The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.

Sheriff Jaime FitzSimons stated, “The Summit County Sheriff’s Office takes all threats to the community seriously. At this time, we have no reason to believe that there is a security or safety risk to students, staff or facilities. I encourage families to continue to talk with their children about safety and the importance about reporting any concerns promptly to parents, school officials, law enforcement or Safe2Tell Colorado.” Sheriff FitzSimons believes that community safety comes from communication, vigilance and education and that we all share in the responsibility to be part of the solution.

All parties involved are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
