As Summit County Public Health prepares to conduct another large-scale COVID-19 vaccination clinic this Thursday, March 11, motorists should plan for heavy traffic in and around the Town of Frisco from 9am through 4pm
SUMMIT COUNTY – Summit County Public Health has announced another large-scale vaccination clinic for this Thursday, which will provide 1,200 vaccines to our community. Much like this past Friday, heavy traffic congestion will be experienced in and around the Town of Frisco for much of the day.
County officials have been looking at ways to help reduce traffic back-up from the vaccination clinic and will have additional volunteers on hand, more signage and cones to help with traffic flow in and around the vaccination site, and are requesting that members of the same household carpool together to vaccination appointments even when their appointment times are different.
“We are grateful for the patience and support of our community while we work to get this life saving vaccine administered as quickly as possible,” said Director of Emergency Management, Brian Bovaird. “We meticulously analyze each clinic that has been conducted and constantly update our operations to make the process as smooth as possible. With that said, we know there will be heavy traffic and we want everyone to be aware of the delays that should be expected when we conduct a vaccination clinic of this size.”
Those with appointments for the vaccination clinic are advised to enter from the roundabout on Highway 9 and Peak One Drive. There will be no access to the vaccine clinic from any other route. Traffic controllers at the roundabout will assist motorists coming from both directions on Highway 9 to enter the waiting queue.
A traffic advisory with the following impacts will be in place for Thursday, March 11, from 9am - 4pm:
Affected Roads:
- Highway 9 southbound from the I-70 roundabout to the new roundabout at Peak One Drive;
- Highway 9 northbound from Recreation Way (Frisco Adventure Park) to the new roundabout at Peak One Drive;
- Peak One Drive will only be accessible from the roundabout and the road will be closed at the Highway 9 entrance;
- All Saint Anthony Summit Medical Center traffic must gain access from the upper entrance.
Affected Neighborhoods:
- Residents of the Bill’s Ranch neighborhood will have ingress and egress from 8th Avenue, but there will be no entry or exit from Peak One Drive;
- All roads will remain open in the subdivisions of Ophir Mountain Village, Frisco Bay and Water Dance, but residents should be prepared for longer than normal travel times due to traffic congestion.
Affected Services:
- All businesses and services will remain open and motorists should allow extra time if trying to access any of the following:
- County Commons complex to include the main library and Colorado Department of Motor Vehicles;
- Summit County Animal Control and Shelter;
- Peak One Drive recycling facility
